Meet Our Founder

“I established Arttitude because I wanted to share a healing practice that helped me throughout my life. When I was younger, I was an extreme perfectionist. Each school day, I crumpled paper intended for a whole class, dissatisfied with my work. Thus, I consulted a psychiatrist and she recommended art therapy, specifically watercolor. Gradually, I learned to accept mistakes as part of my art and enjoy the process instead of being fixated on the result. Through Arttitude,  I am determined to build a safe space for anyone to channel their emotions in a positive way.”

“Arttitude effectively provides methods in which people can utilize the arts as a stress reliever, which peaked my interests as I thought about how this could aid people in the U.S. Through my work as a chapter leader, I am excited to teach students about why mental health matters, in order to increase child safety, and teach people about how they can become a better member of their community.”

“When I volunteered for my first Arttitude event in August 2023, I realized that I wanted to be a part of an organization whose purpose is to artistically support the emotional wellbeing of those they reach. Since then, I applied myself for a leadership role as not only did I want to promote a positive outlet for expressing complex emotions to the people around me, but to extend Arttitude’s reach to nearby communities who may benefit from art therapy.”

“Coming across Arttitude earlier this year allowed me to expand my knowledge of art therapy and actions that students can take in order to increase its accessibility to the people in our community. As a Chapter Leader, I am more than thrilled to introduce Arttitude to my peers at Shrewsbury, in hopes that they too can start their Arttitude journey and support others around them.”

To me, art allows people to connect and express their emotions that words sometimes can’t capture. Becoming a chapter leader would allow me to spread my love for art and provide an outlet for many people to express themselves while also fostering a culture of art-based activity that aims to promote inclusivity in my community.
